It sounds pretty darn good....now what - DIYMA Car Audio Forum

Ok so after RTA'ing my setup multiple times over the past 9 months, looking at the data, playing with x/o points, x/o designs, x/o slopes, EQ's, levels, T/A....I think i got my system sounding pretty darn good!

From a judging standpoint, I believe my system is: 1. tonaly - very accurate, 2. linearity - best at medium volume levels, but fairly linear overall, 3. imaging - center image is sharply centered high on dash, 4. staging - the width depth, height, etc are good but I know could be better....I'm using stock speaker placement.

The thing is i know it can get better. There is always room for improvement. Apart from simply enjoying the music more, which I am doing beleive me, what other things could i do to improve my system or double triple check it, or whatever.

My list so far includes:

  1. entering it into competition again - using results for continued fine tuning, if possible
  2. further use sound deadening materials in the trunk, hood, etc - reducing the need to turn volume up as high helping keep my amp efficient and to have power on reserve for peak music moments
  3. find someone trustworthy who has better ears than me to evaluate it and give me honest feedback
  4. perhaps set the gains again, which may result in me further adjusting levels to maintain my intended target curve - this would help further reduce system noise

Is this a good plan for next steps? Anything else?

Surely i can't just keep my system the way it is and never tweak it again....its not that good.
