Adams State says it will add baseball team

ALAMOSA, Colo.?Adams State will once again field a baseball team.

The Grizzlies say they plan to play a partial schedule next fall in Division II and a full Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule the following year.

Baseball is the seventh sport the Grizzlies have added or resumed in the last three years.

Adams State last sponsored baseball in 1976. The school won back-to-back conference championships in 1973 and 1974.

Athletics director Larry Mortensen says adding baseball should bring 40 new student-athletes to Adams State. Athletic officials are exploring facility needs for the new program.
